Nik Gaudiel
Co-VP FOR INTERNAL Relations
Fascinated with the intricacies of data and the impact of science and technology on the world, Nik Gaudiel committed her time in Philippine Science High School – Central Visayas Campus exploring research and innovation. To further pursue her interest in weaponizing data to attack pressing world issues, she is a freshman in BS Statistics at the University of the Philippines – Diliman.
In sixth grade, Nik discovered the importance of research and the satisfaction of serving the community through science and technology by representing her school in a Science Investigatory Project contest. Since then, she was determined to dedicate herself to the SciTech field; she joined PSHS-CVisC’s internationally-recognized innovation society when she reached seventh grade. The club enabled her to participate and win numerous international and national events throughout her high school life. The summer before eleventh grade, she immersed herself in the Ateneo Innovation Center as a disaster mitigation intern to fully realize innovation for the people.
As she explored her passion in the SciTech field, she realized how fortunate she was for having the means and support to innovate for the community. At the same time, she witnessed that not everyone has the opportunity to do so, especially women, because of the vast gender gap in the field. This awareness prompted her to join WiTech in 2020; to partake in initiatives that directly break gender stereotypes through technology. As the Co-VP for Internal Relations of WiTech for the ’21-’22 cycle, she intends to connect the WiTech family further and make all the members feel that they have solid support to pursue their passions in STEM.
If you can’t find Nik working on WiTech tasks, you will see her in front of her laptop with Photoshop on the screen, creating content for her graphics social media outlets with Simplynailogical’s podcast blasting through her earphones. She might also be on Netflix, repetitively watching Season 6 of Gilmore Girls because she refuses to watch the last season. If you still can’t locate her, she might be on YouTube, Twitch, or simply sleeping the hours away.
